On Friday the Atlanta Braves decided to purchase the contract of Rome Braves’ left-handed pitcher Max Fried and add him to their 40-man roster.
Max Fried finished his championship season with Rome with a 3.93 ERA and was an instrumental part in Rome’s championship series against the Lakewood BlueClaws.
In the final game of the South Atlantic Championship Series, Max Fried struck out 13 BlueClaws in seven innings, allowing one run on four hits to give the Rome Braves their first championship since 2003.
A big reason the Atlanta Braves have added this 22-year-old Low-A pitcher to their roster could be because of his maturity and composure under pressure. Braves scouts saw this on display as he posted a 1.23 ERA during the postseason this year.
To refresh your memory, Max Fried was part of the deal which sent Justin Upton to the Padres. In exchange for Justin Upton, the Atlanta Braves received Mallex Smith, Dustin Peterson, Jace Peterson, and Max Fried.
